Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales The mission of the ministry for the environment and natural resources is to apply an integral state policy for the conservation, protection and regulation of the management of natural resources and the environment in order to reach the sustainable development of Dominican Republic. Without the help and support of the ministry our work would simply be impossible, we thank them for their full collaboration.
BBC Wildlife Fund BBC Wildlife Fund The core purpose of the BBC Wildlife Fund is to raise awareness and funds to save threatened wildlife and places. The fund offers the unique opportunity to capitalise on the creative skills of the BBC enabling wider audiences to engage in the plight of wildlife. The BBC Wildlife Fund also contributes to the BBC’s work in fulfilling its public purposes; Citizenship, Learning, Creativity, Communities, Bringing the UK to the World and the World to the UK and supporting emerging communications and technology. The fund is helping the project by enabling us to work in areas in the north of the Dominican Republic.
Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund Their mission is to elevate the importance of species in the conservation debate by:1) Providing timely support for grass-roots initiatives which are making a real difference to species survival 2) Supporting those whose passion, dedication and knowledge is the key to saving species, and assisting conservation of species in-situ, that is, in their natural habitat 3) Elevating awareness of species conservation and stimulating renewed interest among young people in natural sciences 4) Attracting further contributions to species conservation from across the globe. The MBZ Species Conservation Fund is supporting GPS tagging of hutia and further training of local researchers.
Funk Productions FUNK PRODUCTIONS is a communications and video production company specialized in documentary films for charities, the public sector and the private industry. Our strong environmental commitment has motivate us to get involved in filming for conservation, the development of environmental awareness campaigns for the protection of endangered species and we recently started a joint venture with the environmental consultancy Nature Heritage. We are currently producing a series of short videos in collaboration with the research team and partner organizations to support the education campaign of conservation project The Last Survivors.

The mission of Punta Cana Ecological Foundation is to “protect and restore the natural resources of the Punta Cana region and contribute to the sustainable development of the Dominican Republic.”  They are kindly supporting the project by granting access to their land to conduct field work, along with food and lodging and thereby providing a base for the field team during surveys of the eastern region of the country.
Paraíso Caño Hondo Paraíso Caño Hondo is located at the foot of Los Haitises National Park (Dominican Republic). Paraíso Caño Hondo Eco Lodge is a charming location, where Nature invites you to enjoy the crystal waters of the Jivales River that bathe each of the stunning natural swimming pools. This project was created as an extension of Haitises National Park, to offer its visitors the privilege of enjoying a pleasant stay in a perfect blend of beautiful singing of birds and the sound of the impressive waterfalls. Paraíso Caño Hondo is one of the top 10 world destinations for green holidays as selected by the prestigious Green FORBES magazine, unique recognition in Dominican Republic. They have supported the project by allowing us to stay at their facility and use it as a base station for our expeditions into Los Haitises National Park.
TNCLogoPrimary_RGB The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to “preserve the plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the lands and waters they need to survive.” The Nature Conservancy are kindly supporting the project by sharing GIS data and by advising the project manager.
Servicio Geologico Nacional The objective of the National Geologic Service is to serve as technical adviser to the Secretariat of State of Industry and Commerce and the Main directorate of Mining, in matters related to geology, the evaluation, use and protection of the natural resources, scientific and technical knowledge for the mining development, the prevention of geologic risks and the protection of the environment. They have supported the project by providing GIS data relating to the geology of Hispaniola.
Tody Tours Tody tours specializes in individualized tropical birding tours in the Dominican Republic. Kate Wallace, owner and local guide, was the first bird specialist to lead birding tours based out of Santo Domingo. Kate and her company have supported the last survivors project by allowing us to use their excellent camp site in Puerto Escondido in the northern part of Sierra de Bahoruco National Park.

Tody Tours
The Apothecary Centre in London specialises in medicine and the arts. It provides hands on treatment from highly qualified practitioners and two exciting exhibition spaces. The centre regulary hosts exhibitions for professional artists and provides time and space for local schools and youth clubs to experiment and exhibit. Apothecary is supporting the last survivors project by organising and hosting an event in July 2010 consiting of a series of talks and an exhibition of photographs by Dominican Republic photographers.

Unknown is graphic design, illustration, media, nature photography and fine art. Based out of Santo Domingo, D.R. and with a strong concern for nature conservation we are proud to be part of The Last Survivors project thought the contribution of the illustration and design of the project logo. With one simple message in mind, to bring together people and nations for common task, saving our Hutía and Hispaniolan Solenodon from extinction.

Alan Dart Knitted Toys
The Alan Dart Official Website (www.alandart.co.uk) offers knitted toy patterns as pdf files, for you to download and print outyourself. Alan’s designs have appeared in numerous magazines, and as leaflets, but the majority of these are out of print and unavailable, so this site is now the only place to buy these hard-to-find patterns. The hispaniolan solenodon pattern was designed as a free download to aid the victims of the 2010 Haitian earthquake. Alan has allowed us to use the solenodon pattern to also raise funds for the last survivors project and simultaneously help community groups to find alternative incomes.
3K Impresora 3K IMPRESORA offers advanced printing services to a wide range of private corporate partners as well as to the non-profit sector. 3K impresora has supported the last survivors project by providing highly discounted rates on educational leaflets that we are distributing widely in both rural and urban settings. These leaflets not only inform people about solenodon and hutia but also provide our contact details so they can get in touch with us and report any sightings or request talks and presentations. We really appreciate the support that 3K impresora has provided us.

Flamingo Bay
Flamingo Bay Glass Bottom Boats provides tourist boats to Isla Catalina in South East Dominican Republic as well as snorkeling and diving in the amazing caribbean. Flamingo Bay Bottom Glass Boats have supported the last survivors project my providing free transport for us onto Isla Catalina. Their help has allowed us to survey a small remote island which we would otherwise not been able to survey.
